
COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government of China plans to provide support for the digitalisation of Sri Lanka’s judicial system with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence.A discussion on the matter was held between Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara and newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang.The discussions covered several judicial reforms, including measures taken by the current government to reduce corruption, the e-Court project, the introduction of voice-to-text technology to the judicial system, improving infrastructure for courts, measures to reduce prison overcrowding, and procedures for the disposal of case-related exhibits.The Chinese Ambassador noted that digitalisation and the use of AI technology have been successfully implemented within China’s judicial system.The Ministry of Justice said the two sides also agreed to continue supporting Sri Lanka’s ongoing development programmes, based on the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.
