COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka Police have introduced several new telephone numbers to assist applicants facing difficulties in obtaining Police Clearance Certificates required for overseas travel and foreign employment.According to a statement issued by Sri Lanka Police Headquarters, applicants can now raise complaints and seek assistance through the 24-hour hotline numbers 071 859 59 46, 071 859 59 47, and 071 859 59 48.Police said the measure has been introduced to ensure uninterrupted support for individuals seeking Police Clearance Certificates while the Police Clearance computer system undergoes essential maintenance. As part of the temporary arrangements, applicants are now able to submit requests for Police Clearance Certificates through their respective local police stations.Police explained that the online application process has been temporarily suspended due to urgent maintenance work being carried out on the computerized clearance certificate system. Until the system is fully restored, clearance certificates will continue to be processed through the alternative mechanism.Applicants can download the application form by visiting www.police.lk, navigating to the Digital Services section and selecting Clearance Certificate, where the relevant application form can be downloaded.Once completed, applicants must submit the form together with copies of their National Identity Card, passport and birth certificate. In cases where there is a discrepancy between the names appearing on the National Identity Card and passport, a copy of an affidavit must also be submitted.Police further stated that Sri Lankan citizens currently residing abroad may submit the required documents through a close relative, who can hand them over to the relevant police station on their behalf.Foreign nationals seeking a Sri Lankan Police Clearance Certificate have been advised to submit their applications through the nearest Sri Lankan Embassy or diplomatic mission in their respective countries.
