Police have released further details of the fatal multi-vehicle crash in Mattakkuliya that left three people dead and several others injured. According to police, the accident occurred near Ferguson Junction on the night of September 16 when a car travelling from the Wattala direction at high speed went out of the driver’s control. The car subsequently collided with two three-wheelers and two motorcycles, police said. A total of 13 people were injured in the crash and admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo. Three of them later died while receiving treatment. Police said the deceased were residents of Grandpass, Colombo 15 and Mattakkuliya, with two of the victims identified as being aged 44 and 64. The age of the third victim was not specified in the police statement. The 52-year-old driver of the car, a resident of Mattakkuliya, has been arrested.
