The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered that the driver involved in the fatal road accident in Mattakkuliya, which claimed three lives, be remanded until September 30. The suspect, a 52‑year‑old resident of Mattakkuliya, was produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court this morning (17), following which the order was issued. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver had been under the influence of cannabis at the time of the accident. Police said the vehicle, travelling at high speed from Wattala, went out of control and crashed into three three‑wheelers and four motorcycles near Ferguson Junction in Mattakkuliya on Wednesday night.
