Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickremaratne has died in a suspected suicide, according to Police. Police said the former IGP is suspected to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence in Athurugiriya. Investigations into the incident are underway. Wickremaratne, who served in the Sri Lanka Police for more than 30 years, was the country’s 35th Inspector General of Police. Further details are awaited. (Newswire)
