The Stadiumgama Housing Complex, comprising 1,000 housing units built for low‑income urban residents of Colombo, has been fully completed and will be vested with the public in September, the Ministry of Urban Development announced. Located at Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Colombo 14, the project was implemented under the Urban Development Authority (UDA) with financial assistance from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at a cost of Rs. 9,850 million. Deputy Minister of Urban Development Eranga Gunasekara carried out a field inspection of the premises yesterday (16) to review facilities ahead of residents moving in. The complex, built across four blocks (A, B, C, D) with 14 floors, includes a community hall, day‑care center, pre‑school, medical center, Grama Niladhari office, police post, service and maintenance unit, children’s park, public market, and 20 shops for business activities. Speaking during the inspection, Deputy Minister Eranga Gunasekara said that housing units will be allocated to the most suitable beneficiaries without political, ethnic, religious, or regional discrimination, in line with government policy.
