Sri Lanka and China on Wednesday (15) formally exchanged certificates confirming the donation of school uniform cloth for the year 2027, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Education. The agreement was sealed between Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong and Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa, reaffirming bilateral cooperation in education support. Under this project, the Government of China will donate 10.820 million meters of cloth, sufficient to meet the uniform requirements of approximately 4.18 million students across government schools, government‑aided schools, and approved pirivens, including student monks. The event was attended by senior ministry officials and the Economic and Commercial Affairs Advisor of the Chinese Embassy.
