Sri Lanka has become the first country outside India to host NASSCOM’s flagship DISHA Mentorship Programme for technology small and medium enterprises (SMEs), marking a new step in India-Sri Lanka cooperation in the digital sector. The programme was launched in Colombo on Thursday during a visit by a high-level delegation of Indian IT and technology industry leaders led by NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar. Organised by the High Commission of India, the DISHA programme is designed to provide strategic business guidance, organisational direction and growth insights to technology SMEs through structured mentorship. Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, and other government officials and industry leaders attended the launch. Addressing the event, Rajesh Nambiar highlighted the potential for stronger India-Sri Lanka collaboration in technology and artificial intelligence, while Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha praised Sri Lanka’s commitment to building closer technology partnerships with India. A panel discussion featuring technology founders and CEOs from Sri Lanka and India followed the launch, focusing on technology partnerships and AI opportunities. A total of 48 Sri Lankan technology SMEs were selected for the first cohort of the DISHA Mentorship Programme and later took part in mentorship sessions conducted by NASSCOM experts.
