Police have clarified that rumours circulating on social media claiming a person died following a violent altercation in Wadduwa are false. The incident occurred last Saturday (13), near a multi-storey residence in the Molligoda area of Wadduwa and involved two groups residing at the building on a rental basis. The main suspect linked to an assault during the clash was arrested by Wadduwa Police on the same day and produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (14). The court ordered that the suspect be remanded, while the matter was subsequently referred to mediation. Investigations are ongoing to arrest three other suspects allegedly involved in the assault.
