COLOMBO (News 1st): The foundation stones for several projects aimed at expanding Sri Lanka’s fuel storage capacity were laid today in Muthurajawela under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.According to the President’s Media Division, the projects include the construction of a 21-kilometre pipeline to transport aviation fuel from Muthurajawela to the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.Construction also commenced on five new aviation fuel storage tanks, which will have a combined storage capacity of 90,000 cubic metres.The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation stated that all these development projects will be funded through domestic resources.
