COLOMBO (News 1st) – Two prison guards who were undergoing treatment at the Colombo National Hospital after being injured in the clash at the Negombo Prison have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.The two prison officers, aged 25 and 39, died early last Tuesday.Promotions were previously granted to the 8 other prison officers who had died in the same clash.Accordingly, an officer who served as a Second Class Jailor was promoted to First Class Jailor, and the other prison guards were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.In the recent clash that broke out between drug traffickers and organized criminals at the Negombo Prison, 10 prison officers and 21 inmates died, and nearly 100 people were injured.
