COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Railways stated that train services, which were operating only between Badulla and Ambewela along the Upcountry Railway Line, will be extended to Nanu Oya from Saturday, 20 June onwards.Rail operations along the Upcountry Line were restricted following damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.Train services between Nanu Oya and Ambewela were suspended after a section of the rail track of approximately 120 feet near the 134th mile post was completely washed away by a landslide.The damaged section has now been fully repaired, and from Saturday, four train services per day will operate between Nanu Oya and Badulla.All trains will include First and Second Class compartments with reserved seating facilities.Passengers who have already booked tickets with Ambewela selected as either their departure point or destination will be able to use those tickets to commence or conclude their journeys at Nanu Oya.Sri Lanka Railways added that restoration work on other sections of the Upcountry Railway Line affected by Cyclone Ditwah, is progressing rapidly.
