
COLOMBO (News 1st): The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has taken steps to introduce a new insurance scheme for farmers.This initiative aims to sustain agricultural activities while minimizing the impacts of climate change.The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board stated that this insurance scheme has been introduced to cover every type of crop.The objective is to encourage and support farmers to face the upcoming El Niño conditions, as well as other unexpected events and natural disasters.Priority will be given to the cultivation sectors of cinnamon, rubber, banana, tea, and coconut.The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board further mentioned that all of these crop insurance schemes can be obtained under an affordable premium.Further information regarding this can be obtained by calling the hotline 1918, or by contacting the head office or district offices of the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board.
