The suspects were arrested by the Panadura South Police on October 30 and produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court, which ordered that they be remanded until November 2. The suspects, aged 21 and 37, are residents of Hirana, Gorakana and Elpitiya. Police investigations have revealed that the assault followed an argument over the boarding of passengers at the Dehiwala Bus Stand. Meanwhile, claims circulating on social media suggested that the assault was linked to the collection of extortion money from long-distance buses at the Panadura Private Bus Stand. However, police said their investigations have so far found no evidence of such extortion activities. The Panadura South Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
