A 16-year-old boy was injured after police opened fire on a three-wheeler that allegedly failed to stop when ordered to do so in the Mahakade Junction area of Kadawatha. According to police, an officer on duty had signalled the three-wheeler to stop, but the driver failed to comply, prompting police to open fire at the vehicle. The three-wheeler subsequently fled the scene and was later found abandoned in the Gonahena area of Kadawatha, approximately one kilometre from the shooting location. A 16-year-old passenger travelling in the rear seat sustained a gunshot injury and was admitted to Ragama Hospital. Police said the teenager’s condition was not serious. The driver, a 17-year-old, was subsequently arrested. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the driver had failed to stop because he did not possess a valid driving licence. Further investigations are underway. (Newswire) The post Police open fire on three-wheeler that failed to stop, 16-year-old injured appeared first on Newswire.
