The Australian minister shared photographs of the occasion on his official Facebook page, showing him serving food to Buddhist monks as part of the religious observance. “Kathina, a 2,500 year old Buddhist tradition,” Hill wrote in his Facebook post. Kathina is an important annual Buddhist ceremony held following the conclusion of the three-month Vas retreat, during which devotees offer robes and other necessities to Buddhist monks. Hill, who represents the Bruce electorate in the Australian Federal Parliament, has served as a federal parliamentarian since 2016.
