COLOMBO (News 1st); Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who had been overseas, returned to Sri Lankaat around 11:20 p.m. yesterday on a flight from Malaysia.An application seeking anticipatory bail on her behalf was filed yesterday before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court after she was summoned by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division.In her application, Shiranthi Rajapaksa has informed the court that there is a possibility she could be arrested at the airport upon her return to Sri Lanka after undergoing medical treatment abroad.Accordingly, she has requested that she be released on bail under any conditions deemed appropriate by the court.The Officer-in-Charge of the Financial Crimes Division of the Criminal Investigation Department has been named as the respondent in the application.Shiranthi Rajapaksa, who had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Sri Lanka, left for Singapore on the 16th of September for further medical treatment.This was despite being notified to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division on the 24th of September.The summons had been issued in connection with an ongoing extensive investigation into transactions linked to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation, which was operated under her leadership.
