Aruna Jayasekara.The meeting reviewed ongoing measures to protect coastal resources, prevent environmental pollution, and strengthen security at fishing harbours and islands.The committee, chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, comprises representatives from the Ministries of Defence, Environment, Fisheries, and Tourism, along with key stakeholders from government and non-governmental institutions.Discussions also focused on identifying security gaps at fishing harbours and formulating practical recommendations to enhance both security and environmental protection.
